MULGIPUDER (traditional Estonian porridge)

80g HERCULES Barley Flakes

- 80g HERCULES barley flakes
- 600g potatoes
- 100g bacon
- 300g onion
- 100ml milk
- 40g butter
- Salt to taste
Cooking method:
Step
- Scrub potatoes, cut them into large cubes, and put the potato cubes into a saucepan and cover with 1cm of water. Put it on the stove and cook until fork-tender.
- Cut the bacon into stripes, fry in a frying pan until lightly golden. Cut the onion into stripes or half rings. Add to the bacon and fry until the onion is fully cooked.
- When the potatoes are ready, add milk, HERCULES barley flakes, butter, stir and simmer under the lid for another 5 minutes. Remove the finished potato porridge from heat and mash it into a puree. Add salt to taste.
- To serve mulgipuder, transfer porridge to a bowl and top with bacon and onion.
